Not built for dreams

by Bradley Peter   Oct 29, 2005

T'was not a gaze upon a star
but rather a dream upon afar
dreams swept and drowned in water
fantasies led into a slaughter
dreams are heard upon deaf ears
yet siren-ed and shouted are one's fears
toyed with until finally disposed
walking to doors eternally closed
a sea of hopes swept up ashore
a view of disappointment to adore
in frustration, an explosion of rage
releasing captured anger from the cage
a place of fiction is not found
for our hopes and dreams are reality bound
made to suffer until the very end
a world not eligible to pretend
books and movies spark imagination
but conjured up to build temptation
for dreams are never meant to excel
but lay at the bottom of the abandoned well
