Soldier

And she waited through it all with out a single word
But when I finally came home tonight the tears fell like rain
And I remember

The eyes filled with terror
Our homes filled with tears
And the ground; filled with bodies

With a gun in one hand
Sheâ??s still on my mind
As I crawl out of the trench.
Onto the field; trembling as I go.

Coldness that seeps up through our bones
And surrounds like ice on a foggy mid-day.
And as we go crazy we pause shortly to wonder:
Will I ever get home to see her again?

Blinded by the killing, lost like a shredded rose
Will we ever find the heaven in this hell?
Lives were ruined, people were killed. And dreamsâ?¦gone forever.

So many lovers never going home
The friends and brothers we never even knew
Lay strewn on the ground like the leaves in the spring.

In this breathtaking chaos nothing goes forgotten.
The deafening screams of soldiers haunting the sky at night.
Weâ??ll be trapped forever in panic and despair
And all of this for something none of us get.

Four years gone and weâ??ll never get them back
And Iâ??m broken forever but she still loves me anyways
And she waited through it all with out a single word
But when I finally come home tonight the tears fall like rain

This is so awesome, every time i read something like this it makes me want to cry. I had family in Iraq and now my boyfriend is going into the military. I am so worried. But if this poem tells of ur experienves i am proud to know that you can express this good job and i am proud of our troops!
