In the Search of My Identity

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Nov 16, 2005

In the search of my identity,
I came across so much of myself.
I recrossed the wet pavement.
I followed the crimson traces.

In the search of my identity,
Everything seemed so confused.
Black and grey skies roamed.
Heavy rain poured upon me.

In the search of my identity,
I finally took a long look
At the hands extended to me.

In the search of my identity,
I took a chance, grabbed your hand,
For I realized that I couldn't
Save myself from the past.

In the search of my identity,
I began to trust you.
I began to let myself love you,
Ignoring the fear of being betrayed.

In the search of my identity,
I realized that not everyone is the same.
I realized that you really are there for me.
I realized that you really do love me.

As I realized that, I really saw
The world that surrounded me.
I saw my friends for their love.
I saw my friends for their trust.

In the search of my identity,
I found someone whose hand
I never wish to let go of.
Someone who saved me from myself.

In the search of my identity,
I finally found myself.

*i decided to try a different style of writing.
