The Way

by Rachael   Nov 17, 2005

It's almost been a year
And I still miss you.
Sometimes I go in your room,
Most of which remains untouched,
And just sit...thinking about you.
The memories are vivid,
As if you're there in front of me.
The way your lips curved,
The way you clasped your hands,
The way you crossed your legs,
The way you prayed each night,
The way you always loved me.
I stare at your wedding ring
Still sitting on your dresser.
Sometimes I slip it on,
It fits perfect.
It only reminds me that it's yours
And you should be here wearing it,
Instead of far away.
I live each day wondering what will become of me.
Will I ever see you again?
Will I even know it's you?
You may have been taken from me by death,
But the light of your life is eternal.

I wrote this about my grandma...it's been eleven months since she died and every day that passes makes it seem like yesterday. I've learned that memories can fade and dreams can be discouraged, but through faith all things are possible.

I'm so sorry about your grandma, hun... But right this very minute she's watching you and smiling, because she is so proud of you. You are an amazing writer, and I'm sure that this poem would have touched her heart the same way it has touched the people who have gotten the opportunity to read it. Great job
