I WILL go down with this ship

by Ali   Nov 19, 2005

He stands before his audience,
Tall and strong,
his face is set and his mind made up,
They stare at him watching his every move,
judging him before he even speaks,
waiting on his words,
which he delivers so smoothly,
ending in a fateful statement,
only three words,
three sounds he emits,
"I am Bisexual."
his secret spills across the floor,
seeping into the corners of the room,
boggling his audiences mind,
returning to his seat,
collapsing into himself,
letting go of his tears,
and at first he is comforted,
but his classmates are naive and shallow,
they tease him and call him names,
like some inanimate object,
some freak used for entertainment,
and i hold out my hand,
i try to pull him up,
to pull him out,
of the dark depths he has receded into,
he has been PUSHED into,
i try to help him carry his heavy heart,
but they pound him,
they discriminate him,
their words penetrate the happy heart,
and clog the mind with pain and disarray,
and i cry,
tears of fury,
tears of compassion,
i cry for him,
and everyone who lives through this misery,
in world so closed minded and dark,
that it separates people,
discriminates people,
hurts people.
I will hold him up,
try to save him from drowning,
but if he must drown,
then i shall drown with him,
for we have been let down by the people around us,
who dont see beyond their own nose,
he will not be alone and weary,
i will not leave his side,
not now nor ever,
I will go down with this ship,
i will go down with him.
