When I Closed My Eyes

by Bill Turner   Nov 21, 2005

Fields of poppies in bloom
Little people everywhere
Monkeys on acid fill the room
Riding the trike down the stair

Voices beginning to sing
Follow the yellow brick road
Someone decided to bring
A giant blue toad

Alice is holding a knife
Blood drenching her dress
No one has seen the Mad Hatters wife
Her bedroom is a wretched mess

Madness has taken its toll
Riff Raff fills the room
It is time for the nightly stroll
While the witch flies her broom

Snow White drifts off to sleep
As the dwarves crank up the lab
Cinderella falls for some city creep
Pinball Wizard ends up on the slab

Slowly I open my eyes
Monty Hall lets make a deal
Much to my surprise
I cannot tell what is real

A yellow submarine goes by
Beatles at the helm
These poppies made us fly
An ever changing realm
