On This Day

Wow, is this day finally here?
Has it really been a whole year?
Only 2 months we've been apart,
Yet this day still breaks my heart.

On this day you asked me to dance,
On this day you gave me my first chance,
On this day you kissed me goodnight,
For the first time everything felt right.

We'd always say how far a year would be,
But no matter what, it would be you and me,
Yet on this day I'm still alone,
My heart is cold and turned to stone.

But you're with her, so you don't care,
You've forgotten about the times we shared.
I bet you don't even know the right date,
Bet you'll remember a week late,
On this day, no matter how happy I seem,
I hate the numbers 10 and 19

    I am so sorry! I can completely relate. Only one of "our special days" was 8/20. I know he probably doesn't remember but I know I'll NEVER forget. And he has someone new too. I hate that feeling. It's like now I'm completly empty and there's nothing I can find in this hell of a world to fill that void. Beautiful poem! And thank you for your comment on mine! Keep writing...it helps others to know that they're not alone...and you do it so well!
