My Hero

by Bill Turner   Nov 23, 2005

You have always been my hero
Standing strong
You never acted like a zero
Doing no wrong

Instilling me with pride
Taking honor in my name
Knowing life is a long ride
Not a spectator game

I watched you all my life
Learning as I grew
How you treat a wife
All that I should do

No one was as tough
I never saw fear
You were seldom gruff
Tipped a little beer

You led with great heart
Saving the life of an officer down
Making a new start
Never wearing a frown

I have shared so much about you
With the woman who will be my wife
She wants to meet you too
Telling you she will love me for life

I am proud of you Dad
For all that you do
The best a boy ever had
I love you

Great tribute to your Dad. Everyone needs to tell their parents "Thank you for the little things that you do"
