Meaning

All my life I've been alone
Searching for something to call my own
I want the world to know I'm alive
I want a true love by my side

I've read the bible and sang the hymns
I pushed my body and joined a gym
I looked for it in work to find a home
But still it's me - all alone
Where is that life that belongs to me?
What am I missing? What can't I see?

I believe in God and his saving grace
But why am I so empty and out of place?
Where is that place where I can rest?
That's safe and secure without some test

The world is cold and sometimes cruel
But maybe it's just me and I'm a fool
I can't just give up and I just can't quit
But what am I to do when you just don't fit?

Where is that drink that quenches your soul?
Where is that love to make me whole?
Maybe it's a dream and I'm unaware
And maybe there's no one that really cares
