If tears were pretty, I'd be beautiful.

by Leanne   Nov 24, 2005

What is there to escape to
in this world of hell and tears?
Maybe it's a good thing
that I'm dying safe in here.
This prison might be padded
but the bars are cold and red.
When will I be rid of this pain?
not until I'm dead.
No cut will ever be deep enough
to set my spirit free.
I'm doomed forever to remember
that I'm the one who lost the key.

Internally the voices are screaming,
on the outside I'm scarred, I'm bleeding.
A scarlet glimpse through a window of pain.
Where never am I good enough,
where I 'lose' if I gain.

Snow White choked on the apple,
Cinderella married for money,
Jasmine ran off with another man,
Belle never married her prince.
Sometimes even fairytales don't work out...
Falling feels like flying, until you hit the ground.
Dying is easy, it's living that scares me.

As the last of the blood dries,
a part of me dies.
Now there is nothing left in my heart,
only scars on my body, I call it my art.

Awesome poem. another one I can relate to. I agree with Poonam about the lines"I'm doomed foever to remember,
That I'm the one who lost the key".
I also like the last line about your scars being art. nice job. keep writing.
