A LETTER FROM AN ANGEL

by Lisa Reed   Dec 18, 2003

Lay me down,
And let me sleep,
My eye’s have now
Grown tired,
My heart its stopped,
No longer beats,
No more I’ll watch the hours.

Kiss my face just one last time,
Your tears will touch my skin,
You’ll brush my head with loving hands,
No pain will I be in.

This light I see before my eye’s,
It shines just like a star,
Only so much brighter,
You could see it from afar.

Im walking straight toward it,
You know…..im not afraid,
And when I’ve travelled to the light,
An angel I’ll be made.

I’ll have my wings,
A halo too,
A smile as plain as day,
So you don’t need to cry for me,
I’ll watch you everyday,

And as you read this letter,
I left here at my side,
You know I’ll read each word with you,
Even though I’ve died.

I’ll watch the smile upon your face,
The tear that you will shed,
I’ll watch you kneeling by my side,
As I lay in my bed.

And if you feel a breeze near by,
Don’t worry I‘ll be there,
I’ll have used these golden wings,
To be with you……. cause I care.

brilliant poem Lisa, you'll have everybody smiling at the way you've written this sad poem. It was a very good idea and I love your interpretation of the cold breeze everyone feels when someone has died, K
