The Horse

by Nathan   Nov 27, 2005

When day was Broad and spirits out
The horse would sleep under the umbrageous trees
Green and emerald plants stood thick and stout
Amidst the voluptuous flowers flew humming birds and bees

A proud tall painted horse
Ran her fastest when the sun clashed with the dark purple sky
Striding like thunderous lightning's clattering force
And the long green grass would glow in the night from the moon up high

Different from any that roamed the air and even the deep
The horse was the essence of grace
Fiery burst from her soul but outer appearance was as calm as sleep
Black and straight was the mane which laid upon her face

On any such moment the horse could be observed as beautiful
Self evident stature that reigned, it never tottered nor frayed
So sleek the creature with polished hooves wading the shallow pool
So comforted I was in her presence, she scarcely paid any attention to the disturbances I made

As long as I breathe, It will baffle me how to most accurately describe the features of the Horse
Whose stunning aura I so humbly stumbled upon
An unpredictable character, wild of course
But as for now she's forever gone

You have alluring imagery & do not apologize for an off the wall poem, m' dear.. it sometimes produces more than expected, as in this poem. Nicely done, Nathan.

And I appreciate your honesty. Why was it so bland.

    Anyhow 5/5

    Love,Heather.

This is a really beautiful poem. Immediately the name forced me to read it as i am insanely in love with horses, and i was rewarded with a deep and emotional poem. Your imagery really captures the beauty and grace of the horse.

    My favourite line was this:

Fiery burst from her soul but outer appearance was as calm as sleep

It perfectly describes how calm these magnificent creatures can be, and yet you know their fiery soul could burst free at any moment.

sorry, i've gone all passionate now...i may have to go write a poem myself.

thankyou for writing this truly wonderful oem, and i hope you write more, you do have talent.

What a beautiful relationship you have with nature. it is but a part of you that lives inside. sometimes it screams and you release its thoughts in your lasting poems. what encouragement you give me to come closer to the living outside of selfish humans

I'm sorry this poem is so off the wall, I dont know exactly what I'm steering towards. or what I want to accomplish through it. any criticism would be good and I'd appreciate it.
