Monarch Butterflies

by cLumsy   Nov 27, 2005

As always I take the small dirt road home
Its covered with ivy, but Nature wasn't alone
As I take the few steps forward
My mind is set, its home I go toward

But out of the corner of my very eyes
I spy two faeries, no, butterflies!
Monarch butterflies are what I see
They only come here in the spring

I stare at them in wonder, in daze
Their colors were so vibrant and my eyes were in a faze
Those tiny orange faeries flew close by together
As if spring brought them, here and forever

They flutter by like two stars winking
They made a good couple, and that started me thinking
Where was my friend, where was my lover
Where was my future, where was my other

I continued to watch them fly
They lingered on an flower, and then past on by
They soared to the heavens, I didn't know where
But I swear to you, someday, he'll be there

The two faeries disappeared as if they weren't here
But as quickly as I smiled, I could also feel a tear
I wiped it away, as quickly as I could
It wouldn't do anything, it wouldn't do good

But out of the corner of my very eyes
I saw you, oh, what a surprise!
For you were the one I loved, every every day
I couldn't bring myself to tell you, but finally I can say

"I love you."
