The Final Dusk

by RedRose   Nov 27, 2005

I would gladly sacrifice a thousand sunrises just to see this dusk with you. The elegance of the of the setting sun reflects your grace as you, like the sun it self, rises each morning and I embrace you. And in return you keep me warm, happy, and safe, just for holding you as I always will do.

I will give you my love, honour, and trust and expect only the same from you. I look into your eyes, as if they were jewels but of a much greater value, and tell you that I love you. You say the same as you look into mine, then we share a heart-felt kiss under the red-dusted sky, and I hold you with our arms in twine.

But the dusk soon changes to darkness and the sun to a moon. But we still sit and stare here with our bodies more in twine, whispering sweet everythings. "You are mine".

And even as the darkness grows and the cold drifts in we still, in twine, sit and stare. Because I have you and you have me, and we share the memory of the last dusk we shall ever see.

So we will stay here forever together and will not care if the sun ceases to rise again. Because I will always be with you. Our bodies in twine as we sit and stare at the pale white of the new sun. And in the face of this sun is an eternal image of this moment, of you sitting here with me.

So we both listen to the whispers of the wind, which speaks the thoughts of I and you. It whistles past us, and speaks the truthful words of I love you. I will always love you, and I will always be here for you. If you need me, open your arms and I will be there to embrace and comfort you. So listen to the wind as it speaks and whispers loving poetry to your ear, but hear me even when the wind blows through, listen to me when I say "I love you".

This is a wonderful write. Every word had was written with emotion. I especially love the last stanza. It closes the poem beautifully.

I do think that you can improve the structure a bit. The stanza's, although powerful, are a bit cluttered.

Nonetheless. I loved it. Made me appreciate the one I love.
Thank you for your inspirational poem.
