Character Is In The Heart

by Bill Turner   Nov 29, 2005

Innocence is no excuse
Not in here
Animals run loose
Striking fear

This is the place
Forever changes a man
Grim look on the face
Survive if you can

Freedom outside the wall
Through the fence see the deer
Designed to make you feel small
Each dark day you spend in here

Orange suit doesn't tell the story
Neither does the uniform of the guard
One is in for the glory
The other to make life hard

Clothes don't make the man
Character is in the heart
Show it when you can
Each day a new start

    Wowzy ...Bill ,
Not your usual love poem ... Where's my fix ? Dang it man LMAO...

No seriously you have done an excellent job on this piece and anything from the heart is worth more to me than hum .... (is it you and I or me and you blah, blah blah )
I am interested in what falls from the heart not whatever it is that (whoever)it was said . If I have to see if this word is right to go with that word then I'm not really saying what is in my heart .....God I hope that person doesn't read my poems ...am I in trouble ....

Anyways Bill great write and now I must go find the love poem ....I'm getting the shakes and need my fix ...LOL

That's a really good poem. It reminds me of a poem we have written in our band's song. In the song, there is a slow beat part, and our singer reads a poem. It's called "Innocence is Everlasting"

My poetry may not be technically pure, but it is always from the heart.
