I Can't Remember

by David Paul   Nov 30, 2005

I stayed up all night trying,
To remember how it felt,
When we became closer,
Than any poker game dealt.

Your arms around my neck,
Your lips upon mine,
My not thinking anything,
Except "can I stop time?"

The warmth in the wind,
The rushing of my mind,
The throbbing of my heart,
The tingling down my spine.

The feeling of security,
The breathing in together,
The hoping that this moment,
Would only last forever.

The reason I can't remember,
Those butterflies in my chest,
Is because when I look back,
I see they never really left.
