Clarity (Revisioned)

by AGirlWorthFightingFor   Dec 3, 2005

Here I am in English class
Thinking of you instead of staying on task
((Just a repeatable scene from my past))
((Back in the days I thought they would last))

You can be cynical, but who isn't these days?
((I make generalisations because I'm too vain))
You have this way, I turn around
((A delusion you were behind me at all))

I see you with such clarity
((Lust-filled eyes can't see a thing))
I look at you and I see me
((It was all just horrible vanity))

I'm entertained by your sharp replies
((Like it's all just a joke, this life))
You're so bright under that dark disguise
((Too bad I wasn't, believing all your lies))

You inspire me
((To be your nothing))
You always leave an impression
((You always leave))

It's amusing to watch you tick people off
((Guess my empathy chip was on AWOL))
You cut them down to size before they even realize
((All I felt for you was true, yet a lie))

You don't like to fight, violence is not your thing
((But you're not above anger and being mean))
You will always defend yourself and your friends
((As long as you can get something from them))

Usually I can't stand silence
((But with you I can pretend))
When I'm with you, I don't need to argue
((Because I'm only in love with this vain idea of you))
