All I want for Christmas [Edited from last year]

by Jackie Marie   Dec 10, 2005

Dear Santa,

This year,
I don't want a lot.
Just a little something,
That last year you forgot.
I asked for a person,
Someone I’ve never had.
The present I asked for,
Was my very own Dad.
The kind that will love me,
And never makes you sad.
He won't make me cry,
Upset me, or make me mad.
He won't hurt my feelings,
Or forget I’m even here,
A dad that will comfort me with love,
Not a dad that comforts me with fear.
So, please, Santa,
All I ask for is something new,
Something I've never had,
All I ask for is my very own Dad

This is such a simple poem yet so charged with emotion. I love the way it is written as a letter to Santa where you would expect something like a request for a bike. I loved the last stanza it is so heartfelt.
    Great writing keep going

p.s. glad my poems make you smile

It seems your root depression is your dad not being around. I"m sorry darling and wish things to be better. Another well written piece of work, god you're a fantastic writer.

Again, a sweet, simple plea with a hint of sadness, but mostly quiet resignation. Well captured indeed.
