Only In A Photograph

by Matters   Dec 14, 2005

Smoothing out the wrinkles,
Staring at the eyes,
Look and see the fathomed,
Death and dying cries.

Such a small emotion,
Encased with memory,
Sealed around the corners,
Dark with ebony.

Portraying all the lives,
Holding such reminder,
Ashes clouding thoughts,
And hopes you'll ever find her.

The mouths of ancient tales,
Form and start to speak,
Exalting all the hopeful,
Yet crumbling at the peak.

For in this tragic capture,
Only photographs can lie,
Raising mountain passes,
And startling a cry.

When you look into her face,
There's something more than want,
You can tell of the connection,
A disappearing taunt.

You know this is a chance,
The way you can remember,
So fade into the fire,
I can hide the embers.

I know that you'll succeed,
Find the one who's lost,
This will end the times,
Of your tragic Holocaust.

..Yeah. I don't know...

Should I write a "sequel?"

That...was loads better than most of the stuff on this site. Could use a little work, but still, I like your word choice and the fact that it isn't about a cheesey heartbreak.
