Calling to Me

by Bill Turner   Dec 16, 2005

I can hear the wail of the call reverberating in my ears
The sound sinking to the depths of my heart
Gripping me like a vise not letting go
Waves of sound gently washing over my soul
Needing but to stand and look at you to be whole

Your beauty wrapping around me washing away my sins
So damn cold to the touch yet warming my heart
Luring so many men to your depths with that siren song
I can still hear you calling out to me luring me to your shore
Where I will stand and watch with wonder and awe like before

The sea has always had a certain power over me
Calming my soul and smoothing out the rough spots of my life
Eight hundred miles from your shore feeling your call deep inside
Nothing else calls to me, was I a sailor, no, a pirate in another life?
All I know is your sound, your scent, the view, relieves my strife

The siren song of the ocean again calls to me
At a time in my life when all has gone to hell
Hoping that this trip to the confessional of the sea
Relieves me of my heartache, smoothing the wrinkles in my life
Washes away the hurt created by the promise of someone being my wife

It was tight bill. I liked the way you ended it, and the way you made the sea feel like. Like I was looking at it for the first time, like a kid or something
