Never Apart

by Jordan   Dec 17, 2005

What hurts more than anything
Is not being able to know
If I will ever spend another day
Learning how to grow
You my mentor
But above that my friend
A great-grandmother and a leader
With me till the end
You grace me with your presence
You smile when Im near
You find it easy to love me
Youll wipe away my tears
Youd go to the end and back
Just to make it ok
For me to be able to do anything
Smile for another day
You always chased away the boogie man
You made it ok to cry
Just one more question Granny
What happens when you die?
Mom told me that youre very ill
And now Ive been handed the torch
Im sitting outside crying
Huddled on the porch
I remember the summer days
When wed go out for a swim
Baseball caps, and board games
You always let me win
You taught me life lessons
Without saying a word
And just to make it better
I would give you the world
You were there the day that I was born
And you held me in your arms
Telling mommy that you loved me
Youd keep me from any harm
And when I look into youre old eyes
I say the very same line
I know deep within my heart
That everything will be fine
Granny thank you for everything
I love you with all my heart
And even though heavens very far
Nothing will ever keep us apart

*my great grandma- a woman who has helped me grow in everyway- is very ill...thanks for reading*
