My Hero, My Friend, My Teacher

I have had many teachers
who have come and gone
filling my head with all they can
hoping I'll remember it all
saying I'm destined to be great
and giving me a good luck wish
yet as this year passes
I am trying not to be
too attached
for fear of losing you
but i cant help it
your my teacher
your my friend
the one who notices me when I'm upset
and the one who gives me hope
when the world throws me in darkness
someone i look up to
every day
I see your shining face
the one i hope to be like
when I'm a little older
your my hero
your my teacher
but beyond all else your my friend
whom i cherish
so closely to my heart
