Dear Santa

by Hilary   Dec 21, 2005

Oh, Santa, please come quick,
And hold this letter dear...
I really need your help, Santa,
As I'm on my knees in tears...
I never asked for much, you know,
Just simple little toys...
Like teddy bears, and pretty dolls,
And things to bring me joy...
But Santa this year, I fear,
I'm writing for a different reason...
Cuz the only thing I want, St. Nick,
Is gone this holiday season...
And I know that you can't bring him home,
He's fighting far away...
But maybe you could spread some cheer,
When it comes Christmas Day...
I know it's not easy for him, Santa,
To be away from his family and friends...
But I know he holds us all real close,
Till we can see him again...
I know he chose to do this, Santa,
And I am so full of pride!
But we both know, this Christmas Eve,
Tears will fill my eyes...
He won't be able to roll around,
And play in the bright white snow...
He won't sing beside me of Silent Nights,
Or kiss me under the mistletoe...
So, dear Santa, please, I beg,
Hold this letter dear...
And bring my hopes of a safe Christmas,
To my hero in Iraq this year.

~To my hero in Iraq - missing you on Christmas, and always~
