Let them be

When will this nightmare end?
First, you take away my life
now you want the kids?
I hope you're ready to fight!
I will not let you win
it seems now they're all I've got
can't you accept the fact
this is what your infidelity bought?
Just go on with your new life
The life you wanted so badly
or is it not everything you dreamed
remember when you were happy?
It just wasn't enough
when you had it all right before you
haven't you caused enough pain
for the kids to suffer through?
I would never deny you time with them
they need you in their lives
but you can't just take them from me
my very soul would die.
I need the children here with me
for they are my whole life
dammit you know that
why can't you just do what's right?
The children have made it very clear
this is where they want to be
they are old enough to decide
why can't you just let them be?
