The Proposal (Prequel to "The Video")

by cLumsy   Dec 30, 2005

We have been staying
Together for so long
A year has nearly passed
And nothing has gone wrong

On our anniversary
You shyly handed me
The gift of true love
That anyone can see

My gift was encased
In a velvet red box
And stupid me I thought it was
A pointless pair of socks

There lay a diamond ring
Nestled on a stand
Then you knelt on your knees
And gently took my hand

You said you loved me
For forever and still now
You wanted me for forever
As you finished this vow

Shock came when you asked
For me to be your wife
I started trembling
I wanted desperately to hide

I thought about saying yes
And sharing memories
And I thought about saying no
And leaving you lonely

But in my mind I know there is
Something much more worse
This proposal is the second time
I admit, not the first

My last man cheated me
And I was torn apart
I ask myself "Is this man willing
to have faithfulness and heart?"

I swept all thoughts away
They were in such a mess
My heart knew the answer
While my brain was in a stress

My mouth opened to say
On word, no more, no less
Then I took your hand, smiled, and whispered,

"Yes."

The Sequel to "The Video" is coming soon, it is called "The End" Thanks everyone for your comments!
