Not Ok

Life is short.
That much is clear.
You crying was all I could hear.
It scared me when you told me that this was the only way.
I knew everything wasn't going to be OK.
No matter how much you wanted me to, I couldn't say goodbye.
My heart filled with pain and I began to cry.
Then I hung up though I have no idea why.
The best sound I could hear was the sound of you calling back.
For another minute, I knew you were alive.
You told me you would stop, you told me you would quit.
I'm still not sure if I should have let you hang up with just a promise for just one more call.
I'll find out tomorrow if I meant anything at all.
