The Best Christmas Gift

by *Chels & Britt*   Jan 2, 2006

I stared out the window, I hate this time of year
Where parents and their children spread the Christmas cheer
I am 10 years old in an orphange with no where to go
Crowded by other kids, no room to grow

Most kids wish for toys and dolls
Barbies and phones to make special calls
But for Christmas this year, just for me
I want to be able to have a family

I knew it wouldn't happen in my wildest dream
Well at least to me thats what it seems
I'm an unattractive child, would want this little girl?
There so many cute ones in this huge world

Of course I got all the little toys
And watched all the other little girls and boys
My last gift, however, to my surprise,
Was under that santa hat..a man in disguise

He knelt down beside me and looked me in the eye
I was a bit nervous and let out a cry
"Now little girl tell me, what shall I give you?"
I wanted so badly to tell him something new

"Well Santa," I began
"I want a woman and a man,"
I hesitated to tell him what would mean most to me
"I just want..a small little family."

He took off his hat and unzipped his bag
There was only one tiny picture he had
He said "This is my family of only four"
If you'd like to be in it, I'll show you to the door

I beamed up at him with tears in my eyes
"Of course, Santa! Don't you realize?
I have been waiting for this very day
You've made me so happy..just show me the way!"

So off they went to her brand new home
Finally a family to call her very own
She received the very gift
As Santa helped her spirits lift.
