Winter to Spring

by Karla Gordon   Jan 2, 2006

This day is dark and gloomy
Effecting my heart just the same.

Nothing pretty about this day
No happiness in sight today.

The sun has been taken prisoner
Clouds hang, keeping us dark.

Trees blow in the breeze
Stark and naked of leaves.

Wetness from rain that pours
Melting the snow that once fell.

Dead flowers and plants
Poke though the melting snow.

Death and darkness surrounds
Spring in the far outer bounds.

Mother earth cleansing for spring
Clearing out the old, bringing in the new.

Soon the sun will shine bright
Grass and flowers blooming in sight.

This is excellent imaginery. Beautiful language here. I could almost feel the transition between winter and spring, great set of words there. This is a stunning piece, thanks for sharing it. =)
