To the friend I let down

by Miss Krueger   Jan 3, 2006

Dear butterfly, I wish I knew the reason, I wish I knew why I acted that way

You know it's true that I will be there for you, but I let you down when you needed me the most

You were born a bit different and slowly you learned, that your looks would effect those around you

We tried to protect you from strange looks and sore words, but you knew what you had to do

You are changing your body, your mind and your soul, you are fighting to stay alive

You asked for a helping hand or two, but we always let you down, the currage you showed cannot be spoken in words, but your tale has to be told

After many days of fear, anger and pain you succeeded in moving on, we found you again and we swore we would stay, and never again let you down

Then we heard tears drop at New Years eve, your brother was missing again, they found him dead yester day, in a church all by himself

I know you are sad and I know you need time, and I will promis to stand by your side, your brother found his way when he died in Gods arms and we all remember him today

This poem is written to one of my best friends who lost her big brother, Dan Nielsen, New Years eve 2006. She had fought so much to get over her operation to become "one of us" and then God took even more of her strenght. When you read this poem please send a thought to the skies. Yours truly, a friend, a sister, a girlfriend, a dreamer and most of all a regretter, Miss Krueger.
