It's You

by Hilary   Jan 8, 2006

I think of you, come nightfall,
When the bright sun runs away...
When the whistling of the trees quiet,
Forgetting what they wish to say...
When the darkness overcomes the light,
And the stars come into view...
Oh, their endless beauty, baby,
It reminds me of you.
The silence overwhelms me,
As it takes over my heart...
I'm lost within the memories,
Of times we weren't apart.
Words run through my cowardly mind,
As I try to run and hide...
I don't want to give in again,
To the love I feel inside.
I still know your gentle kiss, my dear,
The trace still lingers on...
I remember your embrace, my love,
Even though our happiness is gone.
To this day, nothing seems,
To be the way that we once lived...
The piece of my heart that you still own,
Isn't mine now to give.
I've tried to let go, you know,
Throughout these past few years...
But I walk away from each new guy,
In a whirlwind of tears.
No matter if they love me,
Or promise me forever more...
I always know something is missing,
And I march right out the door.
I've got almost each and every dream of mine,
The life I've always sought...
But there's one thing on my list, baby,
That for so long I have fought...
The one thing that is absent,
That could make my vision true...
Is the one thing that I let go,
Oh, baby... it's you.
