No Goodbyes

by Hello Life   Jan 9, 2006

When I was four you forgot my birthday
But I didn't actually care
For this was my first birthday
That you were actually there
I thought it was the greatest day
Because you held my hand
But no presents, cake or words of love
I didn't quite understand
Now I know the bitter truth
What you feel for your daughter
The frost of cold sorrow forever lies
For blood is thicker than water
And I have your body, your eyes, your lips
But I pray I do not have your heart
Your knack to send the innocent to shadows
And force so many apart
For this young girl has tried so hard
To catch your pride in what I do
Knowing things are so close yet so far away
Say to me 'I love you'
So I'll carry on in my perfect way
For now its no surprise
To wake and note a silent home
You're gone and no goodbyes.

Mom X
My mind tells me to strive to never be like you but my heart is saying you're perfect. I don't know if it my end to work for your love but without I will always be lost.
