Hear Me

The weight of the world, it brings you down
As you watch each memory burn to the ground
And you run from it all but it does you no good
When your past makes you do things you never thought you would
Your thoughts are so scary like you wouldn't believe
Your conscience eats at you and you can't seem to breath
And every year that passes you grow another year old
Your heart's now rock solid, broken and cold
The Devil, he laughs at your every word
And it doesn't matter the faith when you're never heard
They say that the wind blows stronger each day
With every problem you hit, every word that you say
The sentences you speak and words that you rhyme
Mean nothing at all when your hearts' out of line
They say that life is like chocolates in a box
But out of all of those chocolates you're the one they forgot
They tell you to look for the silver lining
But the problems not looking or seeing, it's finding
The best way to live is to play your own game
And live every moment, because they're never the same
If you smile at fate, fate will smile right back
And the world will open up and give you all that you lack
God never gives you more than He thinks you can handle
No matter how many foul balls you get thrown at you
So make tonight the night that your tears fall no more
And heal the rips in your heart and the holes that you bore
If you can read the sweetness and beauty of words
Then you can always listen, and know that you’re heard.
