Alone and misunderstood

So many times i let my emotions go. i let my guard down and let them in and all those times i was left in the dark, simply forgotten. They all promised me things that in the end meant nothing. They said they'd always be there and understand. and here i stand alone and misunderstood. Now i put up my wall and refuse to let go and forget it all. I know someday ill find someone who is true an wants to know me for me. but how long do i have to wait
