The Day Fire Fell From The Sky

by Momentary Relapse   Jan 11, 2006

A fierce wind drives me to my knees
I kneel staring at the dark sky
Thunderheads approach behind the gale
Now there is no asking why

Dust stings my exposed flesh
Hair flying back as the storm nears
I feel a tightening of my chest
Hoping I would never shed my tears

Lightning cracks a brilliant whip
The wind shrieks unholy voice
I try not to unleash all my pain
Yet honestly I feel no choice

A sob escapes through clenched lips
Thunder booms shaking the ground
I beat my fists upon the earth angrily
Unleashed is a fury of pain unbound

Tears burn their path across my face
Streaks of fire fall from the sky
Cackling thunder roars in defiance
The earth breaks asunder as I cry

All this pain once held tightly inside
Broke through to drown me within
Outside the world dances to the pain
A wind blows forcing me to give in
