To the homeland we salute, on the battlefield we shall die

by Russell   Jan 15, 2006

To the homeland we salute,
on the battlefield we shall die.
Fighting for reason we're not told,
as fire rains from the sky.

Step in step,
as we march into the sand.
Waiting to meet our demise,
as we take our last stand.

Tell we what we are fighting for?
Where you want me to be?
Looking back on this battle,
another life ends in tragedy.

Stripped of your worth
and every right.
What has this country become?
No longer the beacon in the night.

So load your guns,
and march away.
Right into the night,
to be lead astray.

Hmm. i felt this was a god piece of writing and the words were creative, but i do think there was something missing. i also thought that the story got a tad lost, but hey, what do i know. if you read my poems you'll find that i don't have a clue what i'm talking about.
