Dark Paradise

Listen as I turn up the sound
When you take that first look around
Tell me in detail all that you see
In the ruins of this great city

Why did you come here?
Don't deny what you fear
Everyone has a reason
Everyone needs a reason

Do you want power?
Do you want fame?
Locked high in your glass tower
Ruined city that was never great
Just the product of a disorderly state

Live in glass houses
Don't throw stones
Invisible housing development
No privacy but always alone

This city was built on dreams
Sometimes nightmares of wicked men
These hills pour out gold and greed
And our paradise is lost again

But it is better to have and had lost
Then to have never had anything at all
You came to this city and paid the cost
Remember your friends when they fall

Everybody falls in this town
When ever day is a new and new down
High fliers lose sight of the ground
Cough inside the cancerous smog

It's so heavy you can't see the sky
Yellow has settled on the Hollywood sign
Can't see where I live anymore
Best life I've ever had before

Do you want power?
Do you want fame?
Do you know how to play the game?
If you knew anything
You wouldn't have to play

Dark paradise
Where I feel most alive
Dark paradise
Better play nice

Keep your integrity
Or you'll never survive
Avoid the tabloids
Or we'll eat you alive

Nobody likes a diva
Drugs are bad, mmkay
Don't take yourself too serious
Just live day to day

Know your limits before you walk out on stage
You're selling yourself, so don't be fake
If you don't know it, you don't want to know
And with all of this drama -- bring on tomorrow!
