Reason

by Bill Turner   Jan 16, 2006

Everything happens for a reason...
I have been told
Really?
What would that reason be?
It is a puzzle to me...
That is the way it ought to be...
Who gets to decide that?
Why?
How can you decide that for me?
I thought we were free...
Silly statements made
Attempts to explain things away...
You just do not understand...
Imposing your sense of will...
Some predetermined fate...
Please do not take away my right
I believe in my free will...
Lord knows I have screwed up a good thing
Many a time in my life...
Do not wash it away...
I stand accountable...
The man in the mirror will not let me be
Reason is not good enough for me...
That is not how it ought to be...for me

Damn Bill, I was kind of hoping by the time I was your age I would have all the answers, now this puts me in doubt. Does life really get harder as you age?
