Trudging along the Tracks

by Steevens   Jan 19, 2006

Did I kneel down to pray or to tie my shoes?
There's not much difference when there's
everything left to lose
I've got too much to say, and too many words
Speeding in the slow lane, but what is it worth...
To You
To know I'm alright I carry my life with me
as I'm walking by your side
And I'd run to you but from this point of view,
you've got nothing but joy to hide
And I don't want it
No I don't want you, tonight
There's a syncopated rhythm in the heartbeat of
my life
But I'm gaining a sense of pride in losing things
you've denied
There's a complicated story I could tell you of my
life
But I'll spare you all the details and say that I'm
alright, If that's alright...
With You
So put your hand in mine and trust in me to
guide you along this beach tonight
And I'd gladly watch the sun set in the distance
and compare it to your beauty
But I don't want it
No I don't want you, tonight
Trudging along the tracks as everyone speeds by
I find a joy in knowing I'll be the last to choose
Fighting through the happiness, that keeps my
brain alive
Feel like sinking in the air, flying in despair,
which really isn't fair
For You
I don't want it
No I don't want you, tonight
Did I kneel down to pray or to tie my shoes?
I've gotta choose, I've gotta lose
There's a simple satisfaction in knowing I'll be
gone
Honestly I cannot see a time when we weren't
wrong
So I don't want it
No I don't want you, tonight
Did I kneel down to pray or to tie my shoes
To save my soul or walk to you?
I needed to scream but the silence filled my head
Cause I don't want it
No I don't want you, tonight

Did I kneel down to pray or to tie my shoes?
