As a Wise Man

by Steevens   Jan 19, 2006

What to do when one's in love with one who
won't look you in the face
There must be twelve steps to get rid of this
disgrace
Now nothing's leaving everything, but it's leaving
things the same
The stops and starts of broken hearts, is there
that much in a name
I'm leaving you to sanctuary perhaps to sanctify
yourself
While I move on, and witness one who chokes on
his own wealth
It's really quite disturbing how little one must
know
To be looked to as a wise man and made to help
them grow
The days turn into seasons and the nights turn
into years
Excuses are the reasons that turn logic into tears
The pain it flows from scars ripped open by the
mind
With memories and grudges or thoughts of any
kind
You might never see a shadow if it weren't for
the light
So let's all start to wonder what is wrong and
what is right
There's nothing left but treason and the reasons
to give in
But now that life is over I am ready to begin
