What a Sad Story

by Amelia   Jan 21, 2006

On the bus ride home,
Thoughts of you swim through my head.
My mind never stops running.

I write your name on the foggy window,
Think for a moment, then erase it, don't want anyone to see.

The sun slowly creeps under the hills, and darkness falls as I arrive.
Open the door to my room, breathe in the familiar scents.

Walk over to my still broken bed- a quick fix, it'll do.
I still have to put those clothes away, and finish my homework and...

No. I crawl under the covers and turn the light off.
The light from the the moon still comes through my ripped window shade.
Just drives me insane.

Pull the three covers up to my chin and roll over to my right side.
Then I realize how lonely I really am.
Your not here to share this with me.

That's when it comes- a slow wave that starts from my gut and flows through my body.

I wretch forward, and the tears overflow.
They get cold when they stream down my face.
Sniffle, then it happens again.

I whisper under my breath everything that I want to tell you.
This goes on until I cry myself to sleep.
Just longing for you to hold me.
Wishing to hear those familiar jingles in the morning...
