My Brave Little Soldier

by Amelia   Jan 22, 2006

The enemy advanced making life a living hell.
Fighting so fiercely, the defenses they fell.
But my brave little soldier carried on,
Her strength whittled down due to the cancerous spawn.
I cried and prayed, held her close-her hand in mine,
She was so small and frail, but the greatest divine.
But one day the inevitable came.
I sat beside her and whimpered her name.
Worse came to worse- her little body couldn't take it.
That accursed day when my hope was taken- bit by bit.
I thought that she could hold on just a little longer,
But I was wrong, the disease took her.
I finally realize how much her life really costs.
The battle my little soldier had lost.

*In loving memory of my kitty who died of cancer 12/16/05*
