The Tears I Cry

by Lewis Cole   Jan 22, 2006

My face,
As blank as a canvas,
Tainted by the tracks of my tears,
Like a river in full flow,
Like the rain in a heavy cloud,
These tears are for you,
And no one else.

I can’t stop,
My anguish has no end,
You left me with a single word.
And in a puddle of tears,
Weeping, sobbing,
Everyone else can hear my pain, why can’t you?

My eyes are sore and red,
The tears have stopped,
The pain has ceased,
Or has it?
All I have to do is think of you
And the droplets of heartache come running back.

I stand up,
Ready to face the world on my own,
I think of the pain, the rejection,
And then I think of you,
These tears are for you,
And no one else.
