Precious Ballerina

by Just Sierra   Jan 24, 2006

Her face is soft and delicate
Her hair is tied in bows
The light trails her footsteps
As she dances on her toes.

Silk and lace on her creamy skin
All eyes are glued to the stage
Music syncronizes to the beating of her heart
As she is released from her cage

Round and round she spins
As if she was losing her touch
The world is losing its edge
And there's no such thing as too much

The same dcance and all the people
We've all seen this once before
But this time it's all different
Once she falls onto the floor

Her ankle has grown weak
There's no reason to dance on
The audience has thinned and faded
As the thrill as the dance is gone

She now peers into the mirror
To see her body has caved in
There's no smile on her face
There's no coloring in her skin

She tried to please the audience
Isn't that what they wanted to see?
A thin angel from the heavens
Only fallen, there's no sympathy.

A broken ballerina now
A new meaning to "light as a feather"
Will someone notice her worthlessness
Or can she pull herself together

The world will soon stop spinning
And the mirror will soon reflect
If she sets her mind to do things right
She'll be much more than you'd expect

And once the world stops spinning,
She will cease to be
A broken ballerina high up on the shelf
Dancing where no one can see

For now, I say to this girl
Your heart is in the right place
So pick yourself up again
And put a smile on that face.
