Run

by Tricksy   Jan 25, 2006

Take you sorrows,
Your tears, your pains
And release them to the wind
Disconnect yourself from the real world
And run
Run away from those who hurt you
Run away from harsh reality
Feel it,
The pounding of your feet
The pumping of your heart
Resounding in your head
Forget about everything else
But the run of your life
Just let yourself go
If only for a little while
And beside you I will run
My spirit will guide you
Hear my voice
Whispering in the wind
My breath amongst the trees
I died years ago
But my soul won't leave
Everyday I'm here
I see the pain you hide
Behind your mask
Of happiness
I see the people you used to call friends
I hear what they say
I feel everything you do
Everything and more
And I try to show you the things
That life is worth living for
I try and try
To help you
To guard and protect you
From everything
Your nightmares
Your fears
The painful sting of words so cold
You're only fourteen years old
Your whole life is ahead of you
And though you doubt your strength
The pure force of your heart
Is what allows you to be
Here
So run
And recall memories so dear
Remember me
And run.

*Strange poem history:
I woke up one morning form a nightmare about my friend Matt, who killed himself January 28, 2005. I don't even remember writing this, I just remember going back to sleep and waking up again, later, to find this poem in my poetry journal. It sounds like Matt, he was a runner too. What do you think? I know it sounds crazy, but it's like he wrote this for me....*
