The dark cave

by master of shadow   Jan 26, 2006

Trapped and alone,
surrounded by a dark light,
a black shadow,
blocking out the sun,
filling all with cold,
freezing to the core,
the fiery stars shine their last,
the moons gentle glow begins to fade,
all blocked by the shadow of my mind,
the shadow that separates me from the world,
isolates me in this dark cave,
where i can see the passers by,
all living their lives,
can see them,
yet cannot be one of them,
so close,
i can almost touch them,
but an invisible field separates us,
invisible chains hold me back,
heavy as lead,
they weigh me down,
locked tight,
with a lost key,
fiery chains that burn deep within,
hold me here,
in this dark cave,
the black shadow my only friend,
the blade my only companion,
trapped here,
alone, separated from all,
unable to find the key.

Hey, thanks for the comment on my poem...I think it's great that you've tied to give it up before...I have my heart set on it so if I give in I won't only be letting myself down, I'll also be letting down all of those around me...Im sure you can do it if you want to.

Well done on your latest poems, I found this one to be very deep, and something to which I can relate.

Nice work! It's a terrible feeling with impressive descriptions. Good imagery!
