You're Not Really Here

by The Wingless   Feb 1, 2006

As I look out to forever,
I watch the green grass blow,
In the silent breeze.
I look up at the sky,
And I try to find myself.

But I see something else,
And it's not who I expect,
It's the one who had past,
But he's not really here.

I shake the memories,
I ignore what I saw,
Yet I think about it,
Through the whole day,
About someone,
Who isn't really here.

I was getting used to it,
But I then I saw you again,
And I wasn't alone.
But, that's not true,
You're not really here.

I didn't see you again,
And my body aches that your gone,
My supply fell through,
I had no more to say,
To someone who isn't really here.

You craved my happiness,
I craved your joy,
We smiled together,
And we laughed together,
But now it's not that way,
You're not really here.

We have to say good bye now,
And I know it will be hard,
But you're gone now,
And you have to move on,
I know you can hear me,
But I receive no response,
You're not really here.

As we part in my head,
I watch everything fall apart,
I had to say good bye,
It couldn't be this way,
I couldn't be with my brother,
Who isn't really here...

I'm kind of at a loss as to what to write here. I don't know what it is exactly about this piece, but it's touched me so deeply in ways that I'd long thought impossible. The feelings of loss echo through each word of this poem, it is excellent. Just excellent.
