Pointless

by master of shadow   Feb 9, 2006

Dark,
empty,
cold,
eternally trapped,
forever alone,
chained down,
locked by your own mind,
in eternal darkness,
numb and cold,
no feeling within,
only a dull aching,
surrounded by a heavy mist,
a black fog,
thick and almost solid,
entering my soul,
growing within,
entering with every breath,
weighing me down,
cold and freezing,
killing all inside,
leaving an empty shell,
with no feeling,
no hope,
nothing left,
in this pointless existence,
where we are forever alone,
No feeling, no hope,
just existence,
Like a robot,
less than a robot,
a robot has sensors,
programming,
purpose,
we lack even that,
So existing,
like a lifeless pile of cold steel,
No point in being there,
yet doomed to forever remain
in this life.
This pointless existence
where we are forever alone,
and mere shadows,
shadows of what we could be,
and have been in the past.
Just an empty shell,
no feeling within.
Just cold and numb.
No life,
no reason to be here.
Just existing in this empty sphere,
unable to relate to others,
forever separated by invisible forces.
Forces that you know are only within your mind
but you are not strong enough to fight.
Just been here,
for no reason.
Pointlessly existing
when you know it would be better if you just ceased to do so,
for everyone.

Again I find myself in awe of your ability to define emotion in words. This poem seems to speak directly to the reader, so much of it is familiar and so true. Well written, I was drawn in from the first word.
