I, trout

by Ian Costello   Feb 16, 2006

I must leave you
but I, like a trout will find my way home
the trout swim out to sea in their youth
they leave their nesting ground like I must
but once a year they return to spawn
like the trustworthy trout I shall return

distance is a barrier of the mind, a non-corporeal obstacle.
the ideology of the heart is not stretched too thin by miles.

in times of need cry on my shoulder
let your problems drip off of your face into my sleeve
in times of trouble call on me
let your fears ungrip your mind, unrelenting demons be gone!
Let me venerate you
and hold no woman as your equal

the streams calls and I must obey
but I will always know my home
forever in your arms
