Angel Baby

by JL   Feb 19, 2006

A baby sleeps
So innocent,
So unsuspecting
Seemingly heaven sent

A mid-afternoon nap
Just like any other
Everyone else
Was with your brother

Out of nowhere
Came a crash
Tree fell right through
The house was slashed

The tree broke the roof
You were nearly crushed
Precious little angel
You could not be touched

Doorway was blockaded
I could not get through
I were so scared
I didn't know what to do

So close yet so far away
Thoughts run through our mind
How did this happen,
What would we find?

Looking for hope
It looks bleak
The longer we wait
My knees get weak

Glass breaks as Joe rushes in
Searching for you
Tears run down in silence
As I pray for you two

After eternity, Joe shouts
You're safe, just scared
This is all my fault,
I should have been there

When I hug you
I never want to let go
Never, i love you
I want you to know

You are an angel,
And are protected by one
It missed by a foot,
My beloved son

*in my cousin-in-law's point of view. A tree crashed through their roof Thursday afternoon, and missed my sleeping cousin by a foot*

A guardian angel was surely watching over this precious little one....... quite a scary thing to have happen, glad all turned out so beautifully..... a very heartfelt write.
