Us and the Baby

by gasping for air   Feb 21, 2006

You and I,
We have come a long way,
From two years ago,
When we were kids with crushes.
We still are just kids,
But those feelings turned into love,
And we took things a step further.
And now we're going to have a little one,
Added to our lives,
You have your reservations,
You have other plans.
But I stayed strong,
In my decision,
And now its final.

But while we have to get through this,
You tell me I'm unfaithful,
That I wasn't loyal to you and our bond.
You told me I'm a liar,
That I need to tell the truth,
Once I do everything will be okay.
And it was in that moment,
That we became broken,
And maybe unfixable.
I've turned bitter,
And cold,
Focusing only on this baby here inside.
I want to walk away from the broken us,
I want to go on with life,
But what about the baby.
I don't want him/her to be born into a broken home,
To have his/her parents already separated.
So as long as you're willing to try,
To attempt to make things work,
Then I will too,
But not for me,
Not for you,
For this wonderful baby inside of me,
Who deserves nothing but the best,
That life can give her/him.
